"I did it all and I still felt like there's something missing."

A Film About

what you put down

Most of a life is spent adding. Titles, possessions, expectations, the version of yourself other people found easiest to deal with.

There is a quiet, recurring sense that something is off and it arrives most often when nothing is. When the outside looks like success. We call it the inner knock.

UNbecoming follows four people who stopped adding and set out to find what was underneath. It films the parts that didn't work. One of them says, on camera, that she thought she'd be fixed and isn't.

What they undertake involves 5-MeO-DMT, taken under supervision. The film neither recommends it nor looks away from it.

We left it in.

UNbecoming

The inner knock is not a call to add one more thing. This is a film about subtraction, and subtraction costs something. It cost the people in this film money, certainty, and a set of expectations they arrived with. The film shows what it cost. It's for anyone who has done the work and found the feeling still there.
